What’s New in Microsoft Intune

As part of Microsoft’s ongoing effort to improve security and productivity for organizations, the June 2025 updates to Microsoft Intune introduce practical new features that support better device management and user control. These updates focus on enhancing the Android and Apple ecosystems, as well as improving app deployment through Apple’s Volume Purchase Program.

Custom Naming for Android Enterprise Devices

Managing a large number of Android devices can be difficult without consistent naming. With this update, Intune now supports custom naming templates for Android Enterprise devices. This allows devices to be automatically named during enrollment using fixed text or dynamic variables like serial numbers or device models.

This feature simplifies device tracking, helps maintain naming standards, and eliminates the need for post-enrollment renaming. It will be available to eligible tenants by the end of June and will also extend to Android Open Source Project (AOSP) devices in future updates.

Improved Controls for Apple Device Management

Apple device management continues to advance in Intune. New settings have been introduced that allow administrators to block screen captures from the Apple Intelligence app and control access to features such as Apple Writing Tools and Genmojis.

These updates provide organizations with better control over how Apple devices are used, helping to protect sensitive data and ensure policy compliance.

Faster App Deployment with VPP API Version 2.0

Managing apps through Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager has historically been slow, especially at scale. With Intune’s support for VPP API version 2.0, app sync processes are now much faster and more efficient.

Rather than thousands of requests, the new system reduces traffic to just a few API calls, allowing updates and license changes to reflect in Intune almost immediately. This significantly improves performance in high-demand environments.

Conclusion

Every update to Microsoft Intune brings new opportunities for IT teams to improve efficiency and strengthen security. From smarter Android device naming to tighter Apple controls and improved app syncing, these June 2025 enhancements are designed to make modern device management more seamless and reliable.
