A researcher in Belgium has recently discovered a serious security flaw in Wi-Fi which has alarmed the tech world. According to the researcher, the Key Reinstallation AttaCK (KRACK) makes any device that uses Wi-Fi vulnerable to attackers.
How does KRACK work?
The attacker uses the key reinstallation attack (KRACK) to exploit the weaknesses in WPA2, a protocol that secures all modern protected Wi-Fi. To simplify, it allows someone to access your device through a password-protected Wi-Fi network.
How KRACK can affect me?
A lot of sensitive information such as credit card numbers, passwords, chat messages, emails, photos and so on can be stolen from you.
How can I protect myself?
Immediate actions were taken and secuirty updates have already been released for customers protection against KRACK attacks. We recommend you make sure that your devices are up to date with latest updates and security patches. The flaw can be fixed with security software updates. In fact, Microsoft has already released an update to fix this with Android and IOS to follow.
